Terms of Service

These Terms of Service ("Terms") are an agreement between LaunchQuack LLC, a Florida limited liability company ("LaunchQuack," "we," "us"), and you. They cover your purchase and use of the Orwell manuscript assessment (the "Assessment") and the launchquack.com website. By purchasing an Assessment or submitting a manuscript, you agree to these Terms.
1. What you're buying
1.1 The Assessment. You upload a manuscript, and you receive a written assessment of it as downloadable PDF files, in a standard edition and a print edition. The Assessment covers the opening, a top-line summary, chapter-by-chapter notes, market research and comparable titles, a conversion or publication-readiness assessment, and a revision roadmap. The exact contents vary with your book and your answers on the intake form.
1.2 How it's made. Orwell was designed and built by LaunchQuack's founder, a ghostwriter and former manuscript assessor at a ghostwriting agency. Orwell's assessment method comes from that agency experience and from our own research into what makes books work. Orwell runs on Anthropic's AI models, and your Assessment is written by Orwell's AI. A person doesn't review every Assessment before delivery, but LaunchQuack's owner may look at any Assessment. Building Orwell this way is how we brought the price down. When our founder did this work by hand at an agency, an assessment like this cost $1,000. With Orwell, it's $297, and we've passed the savings on to you. And if you later hire LaunchQuack to ghostwrite a book, the full amount you paid for your Assessment comes off the price. The credit never expires, and it can be used once, on one ghostwriting project. It can't be transferred or exchanged for cash, and it doesn't apply if your Assessment was refunded or the payment was charged back.
1.3 Delivery. We aim to deliver within 72 hours of receiving a complete, accepted manuscript. Delivery happens by email, with download links. Delays can happen because of outages at our providers, and delivery times are an estimate, not a guarantee.
1.4 What we accept. One manuscript per purchase, as a .docx or .txt file, between 500 and 120,000 words, in the genres listed on our website. If a file doesn't meet these limits, we'll email you and you can send a new file. If the problem can't be fixed, we'll refund you. We may also decline any manuscript, for example one with illegal or abusive content, and if we do, we'll refund you in full.
1.5 Who can buy. You must be at least 18 years old and located in the United States.
2. Your manuscript
2.1 You keep every right to your work. Submitting a manuscript doesn't transfer any ownership to LaunchQuack.
2.2 What you allow us to do. You give LaunchQuack a limited permission to copy, store, and process your manuscript, including through our service providers, only to create and deliver your Assessment, to handle support and refunds, and to meet legal duties. This permission ends when we delete the manuscript (see the Privacy Policy).
2.3 No training. We only use your manuscript to create your Assessment, and for the support, refund, and legal needs in 2.2. We don't use it to train AI models.
2.4 Your promises. You confirm that you wrote the manuscript or have the right to submit it, and that submitting it doesn't break any law or anyone else's rights.
3. Our guarantee
If the Assessment doesn't tell you something you didn't already know, it's free.
Read it, then email orwell@launchquack.com within 10 days of delivery with two things: what the Assessment missed, and what it told you that you already knew. We'll refund the full amount you paid.
We refund within 2 to 7 business days of receiving your answers. Refunds go back to your original payment method, and when they post depends on your bank.
Outside this guarantee, and outside section 1.4, purchases are final.
4. Price and payment
4.1 The price is shown at checkout, and you pay in U.S. dollars through Stripe, our payment processor. LaunchQuack never sees or stores your full card number.
4.2 Discount and referral codes apply only as stated when you use them, and they can't be combined unless we say so.
5. The Assessment you receive
5.1 The Assessment is yours to use for your own writing and publishing work. You may share it with editors, agents, co-writers, and anyone helping you with your book. Your purchase doesn't give you permission to resell the Assessment or publish it as your own work.
5.2 LaunchQuack keeps the right to the Assessment's format, templates, and the Orwell name and character.
6. What the Assessment is not
6.1 The Assessment is editorial feedback and opinion. It isn't legal advice, including on permissions, copyright, privacy, or defamation, and it isn't financial or tax advice. Where the Assessment flags a legal question, talk to a qualified lawyer.
6.2 No promised outcomes. We don't promise that following the Assessment will lead to publication, an agent, a book deal, sales, clients, or any other result.
6.3 Orwell can make mistakes. Orwell can misread a passage, get a fact wrong, or miss something. Please check anything important before you rely on it, especially facts, quotes, dates, and market details.
7. Limitation of liability
7.1 As is. Apart from the promises in these Terms, including our guarantee, the Assessment is provided as is, without other warranties of any kind, to the fullest extent the law allows.
7.2 To the fullest extent the law allows, LaunchQuack's total liability for any claim about an Assessment is limited to the amount you paid for it. LaunchQuack isn't liable for lost profits, lost opportunities, or indirect, incidental, or consequential damages. Some states don't allow these limits, so they may not apply to you in full.
8. Other LaunchQuack programs
Our Referral Program has its own terms at launchquack.com/referral-terms. Ghostwriting services, when offered, will have their own agreement.
9. Changes
We may update these Terms. The version in effect when you buy applies to that purchase. We'll post the date of the latest update at the top.
10. Governing law and disputes
10.1 These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Florida.
10.2 Talk to us first. If you have a problem, email orwell@launchquack.com before anything else, and we'll try to fix it within 30 days.
10.3 Where disputes go. If we can't fix it, any dispute goes to the state or federal courts in Lake County, Florida. Either of us may use small claims court instead, where it qualifies.
10.4 The whole agreement. These Terms, along with any program terms they point to, are the whole agreement between you and LaunchQuack about the Assessment. If any part of these Terms can't be enforced, the rest still applies.
